Another July 4th-Inspired Post

What can I say, the holiday is on my mind. I hope you enjoy this lovely photo, as I did. It's worth visiting.

An Unusual Tribute for July 4th

Well, I've spent way too much time this afternoon browsing videos on YouTube, as you probably could have predicted. Finally, I found just the thing to pass along. It's both timely and thought-provoking. Okay, maybe it's not thought-provoking, but it is timely.

Paper or Plastic?

We've all been asked about our preference for paper or plastic at the grocery store, but we're not used to making that decision when it comes to the format of our library materials. Although eBooks, eAudio, and eVideo aren't exactly "plastic", the comparison isn't too far of a stretch of the imagination.

I experimented with downloading an eBook this afternoon. Unfortunately, not being on my home computer, I left off when I needed to download software. (That's frowned upon at my place of business.) But, I did explore NetLibrary's collection of publicly accessible eBooks, which includes almost 3500 titles.

From the comfort of my desk chair, I looked at the first 1,000,000 digits of pi, a bit of Alice in Wonderland, and a smattering of Tom Sawyer. I could have easily browsed for hours, but again that's frowned upon at my place of business.

Hello 21st Century!

I thought that I had made it into the 21st century, like everybody else. But lately, I'm not so sure.

Yesterday, I tried to arrange a meeting place at a large outdoor venue with a family member. After I asked her several times where she wanted to meet me, she finally said, "Just call my cell phone when you get there, and I'll tell you where I am." That idea hadn't occurred to me.

Today, I'm creating a blog. In my book, that's a big step forward. 23 Things may just make a modern woman of me yet.
